The Major League Baseball amateur draft is probably the biggest crapshoot amongst the major four sports. Even the best players typically take at least two years to arrive at the big league level. While several stars such as Alex Rodriguez, Ken Griffey Jr., Chipper Jones, and Joe Mauer have emerged, there have also been several colossal busts. Danny Goodwin was so good, he was drafted #1 overall twice! He went on to have a marginal, at best, career; hitting .236 with 13 HRs over parts of seven big league seasons.
